The staff were most helpful, very friendly, courteous, interested in our well being. Samantha at the concierge desk went out of her way to assist us. We expressed our delight and satisfaction to Mr. Bobby Pringle, General Manager. The room absolutely gorgeous. Beautifully and tastefully designed - modern lines. The location near the V & A Waterfront served our shopping/restaurant needs. The location of the property helped us feel the history of the waterfront since the building itself originally was a part of the docks area.
The hotel is a perect size as it is large enough to have very good facilities but small enough not to be anonymous. The decor is lovely and the staff were all unfailingly polite and helpful. The food at breakfast and dinner was extremely good and, by Uk stadnards very reasonable.
This is probably one of the best hotels in Cape Town. Nice to be so close to the Waterfront.
Ambiance, service, food and wine, location - V&A shopping and dining, Table Mountain
evening turndown service unreliable, XO Cognac in bar priced about 1/3 of what is should be, barman has to apologise for the error and not sell it, drinks list remains un-corrected. The good FAR outweighs these niggles!
The room was beautiful and the service was exceptional and the friendly helpful staff. Would definately recommend it.
The management and staff were extremely helpful, professional, friendly and patient. A combination that is hard to find at any hotel.
First class location yet quiet because of its size plus the fact that there is no passing traffic. Big rooms, well appointed, free wifi, a luxurious breakfast, the friendliest staff you could wish to meet. Amy, Fatiema and Victor in the dining room make sure your day gets off to a brilliant start. The hotel enjoys an elevated position at the Waterfront, all you have to do is cross the road and you are there - and that means you have a vast choice of restaurants at your disposal. The hotel has a restaurant which we did not use but we used the oyo restaurant which belongs to the Victoria & Alfred hotel (part of the same chain) and we were impressed with the food (don't miss the crayfish). You use the garden and the pool of the Dockhouse Hotel (part of the same group) which is great for relaxation. We liked the fact that it was small, central, it was not overrun by children (those who were there were thankfully controlled by their parents) - it has a luxurious feel about it without being in any way pretentious. You get the feeling that the staff enjoy their jobs - and that makes a lot of difference (compared to the 'I don't care' attitude which blights many a South African establishment). We felt the hotel measured up well against other establishments. We spent a long time in Cape Town and we looked at lots of hotel - we felt we had made the best choice. If you want ultimate luxury you would go to the Tableview Mountain or to the Cullinan - but that would be a lot more expensive
We could not identify anything we did not like - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would come back without hesitation.
The staff were very friendly & helpful It was conveniently located for the blue & red bus tours & the waterfront The bedroom was clean & v comfortable My wife was happy staying there with me!
breakfast buffet choice was delicious but somewhat limited. would be good to have some rotation
Small boutique hotel with 35 rooms and extremely helpful staff. Very conveniently located. Literally a few steps from the Waterfront.
The absence of a swimming pool.
The Queen Victoria Hotel was beautiful and very cosmopolitan. Our spectacular bathroom was the same size as our bedroom and brilliantly designed. The location was perfect with a short, safe walk to the Q&A Waterfront where shopping and dining was top class. Our breakfast was included in which we could order off a menu along with a lovely continental buffet. There was also champagne for mimosas served. I would stay again at this hotel again in the future.
It is located exceptionally well, giving you easy access to the Waterfront as well as tourist options like the Hop- on- hop- bus. The rooms are luxurious and comfortable. Bathrooms are exceptional.
Staff did not meet our expectations at all. During breakfast we were only three tables to be served, and we are still waitng for the coffee that we ordered. Breakfast itself in this hotel was only adequate. We did however visit the Victoria & Alfred for breakfast on one of the mornings, and both the food and staff were excellent. Congratulations to this very friendly and efficient staff - special mention to a lady called Abigail. Not only did she see to all our needs, but was also well informed and even gave us details of the expected weather for the next two days! Based on reviews, we chose this hotel from many others for our 20th wedding anniversary. Although the staff was aware of this, nothing special was done. At the Beverley Hills in kzn so much more were made of our 10th anniversary. What a disappointment the Queen Victoria was - given the price asked. Although we specifically said that we used nothing from the mini bar and never ordered anything, we were billed incorrectly. Apparently we ordered from the bar - which we never did.
